Film and trailer poster analysis

POSTER KEY CONVENTIONS
The key conventions of this poster is the name of the director, main star of the film, the central image and the colour scheme of gold to suggest the film being about money. This appeals to the audience as the background of the poster shows a party which shows that the genre of the film is a drama based film. The central image of the poster is the main character in the film who is Leonardo DiCaprio.

TRAILER KEY CONVENTIONS
The key conventions of the trailer are the name of the main star and director being shown rather than a voice over of their names. There is a title and release date at the end of the trailer so the viewer knows when the film comes out. The main star is shown straight away so the viewers identify a famous actor and will then go watch the film.

I think the poster and the trailer are successful as they promote what the film is about but dont give too much away about it. The poster and the film shows the main star and the director to indicate that big hollywood stars are in the film.
